Whiskeys of New England

When I travel the byways of Northern New England, I think of rolling rivers, scenic gorges, old fashioned Main Streets, and fresh boiled maple syrup. But who knew that over the last decade a burgeoning craft whiskey industry has been developing here?

I sampled Wiggly Bride Bourbon, Bully Boy Whiskey, Boston Harbor Distillery Maple Cream , and Putnam Rye, at the Phantom Gourmet Whisk(e)y and Chocolate Festival

Vermont

So when travelling through southern Vermont, I had to visit Brattleboro’s craft liqueur source, Saxtons River Distillery.

On this same trip I dropped by the stunning Copper Grouse, in Manchester. There I had the opportunity to sample Silo Whiskey and Smuggler’s Notch Bourbon Whiskey.

New Hampshire

While touring Flag Hill Distillery in Lee, New Hampshire  I had the chance to interview their distiller Brian Ferguson, where I learned how they made their Flag Hill Bourbon, Whiskey and Rum

I had the privilege of touring Djinn Spirits, a craft distillery located in Nashua, New Hampshire. Let’s check out Beat 3 Whiskey from Djinn Spirits.

While not whiskey, The Anheuser-Busch brewery is located in Merrimack, NH. Opened in 1970 on a site that now covers almost 300 acres. It’s absolutely massive with a floor space of 865,000 square feet. This brewery produces Budweiser, Bud Light, Natural Light, Busch, Busch Light, Michelob Light. So let’s take a look inside the Anheuser-Busch Brewery.

Massachusetts

Next there is Boston Harbor Distillery, located at The Port on Boston’s southernmost waterfront in the Neponset area. I’ve reviewed a set of spirits distilled from the mash bills of Samuel Adams beers – Boston Harbor Distillery: Spirit of Boston

Maine

In Portland Maine we find Stroudwater Distillery and Liquid Riot, on the waterfront in Portland’s Old Port.
