While touring Flag Hill Distillery in Lee, New Hampshire I got to sample their Apple Cranberry Fruit Wine. They noted that “Sweet NH apples and tart Massachusetts cranberries unite in this crisp fruit wine.”
I love the idea of the combination, but I went into this with a bit of trepidation. I’ve had fruit wines from other vineyards that ended up too sweet, like desert wines. But this is refreshingly tart (and nothing like apple-cranberry juice.) The cranberry stands up a bit over the apple, just the way this son of New England prefers it. Verdict? I picked up a bottle!
Brian Ferguson is a fantastic Master distiller and host, knowledgeable about the art and science of the craft. I learned about their production of whiskey, rum and vodka. Got to sample the bourbon. You’ll be seeing an interview with him here soon.
